Remotely Connected
Exploring social interactions at work in the age of remote and hybrid offices
When the pandemic pushed work and study into our homes, productivity tools adapted quickly, but social interactions didn’t. I started this project from a personal frustration: I missed the small talks and the tiny signals of togetherness, but I found video calls exhausting. So how might we bring back those subtle, delightful moments of connection in a digital workspace?
Process
The three areas I explored were:
Enabling ad hoc, serendipitous encounters
Creating a sense of working together
Connection beyond time, location, and language

I ran an asynchronous workshop with over 80 participants across 7 countries, collected ideas, built quick design probes, and tested them with users. These probes were used as a way of sparking conversation and uncovering values.
